Jane Addams to Chester H. Rowell, June 5, 1914

Hull-House
800 SOUTH HALSTED STREET
CHICAGO

June 5, 1914.

My dear Mr. Rowell,

My statement in regard to Mr. Heney was not in any sense an endorsement of one candidate as against another, but merely an expression of my personal knowledge of Mr. Heney's character and ability, in which no criticism of another was either stated or implied. It would seem that California is to be congratulated upon the outlook offered by the Progressive party.

With all good wishes for the success of the nominee, I am,

Very sincerely yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Mr. Chester H. Rowell,
Fresno, California.
