Biographical Text

Thomas Ignatius Parkinson was admitted to the New York bar in 1909 and began working as the director of the legislative drafting department at Columbia University. He taught courses on legislation from 1917 until 1935 at the University. Parkinson was appointed as the Dean Faculty of Law in 1923 and, later, chairman of the board in 1953. He was also the president of the New York State Chamber of Commerce. Parkinson held the position of chairman for the Equitable Life Assurance Society, stepping down as chairman in 1954 after being accused of nepotism.

Parkinson married Georgia C. Weed in 1912. They had three children together. Parkinson died in 1959.
