I am enclosing a copy of my letter to the Colonel in re Mrs. Longstreet and the vacancy in the National Committee. Tammany is playing havoc with my resignation from the Bureau and I dare not be away a minute until my successor is appointed. I am heartbroken at missing the St. Paul conference.
