Biographical Text

Cornelia De Bey immigrated from Holland to the U.S. in 1868. She became involved with the Kershaw School in Chicago in 1906 when there were reports of poor janitor service in the school. De Bey was appointed to the Vacation School Committee of the Chicago Board of Education in 1905. She was a member of the Woman's City Club of Chicago. De Bey died in 1948.
