My dear Miss James: --

Your telegram came when I was out of town and, of course, the events which have hurried on since then abrogate the need.

I find that Progressive speakers as a whole are pushing Suffrage. I have just come from Indiana and the Suffragists there are delighted with the statements that have been made in that city. I am always sorry to hear when it is not mentioned and can only assure you that I will do the very best I can to hold the Party to its pledge.

Sincerely yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Miss Ada James
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
