Jane Addams to Baker Brownell, March 17, 1928

HULL-HOUSE
800 SOUTH HALSTED STREET
CHICAGO

March 17, 1928.

My dear Mr. Brownell,

I thank you very much for your kind letter of March 12th. I should be very glad to make an engagement for next year as usual. I would like, however, to send you a new statement for my own address.

I was on the point of writing to you when your letter came. I am absolutely unwilling to have my speech used in its present form and I have not as yet succeeded in getting it into shape. I would not be willing to print it in one of my own books and I am afraid I shall have to ask that it be left out of the one you are compiling ↑editing.↓

With genuine regret that I must disappoint you and thanking you for your many courtesies, I am

Faithfully yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Mr. Baker Brownell,
University
