Dearest Hostess
I thank you so much for your telegram that cleared up many difficulties. The young man has disappeared -- self-deluded I think, rather than a scoundrel -- and never knew I had telegraphed but I have written to Mr DeForest about him.
I came back to so much accumulated work that [page 2] I have only tonight dug my way out but through it all there has been a blessed sense of a time of rest and leisure just past in your house.
I am also going to write to the automobile hostesses. I think we will have to develop a new etiquette for that charming form of hospitality!
Mary seems pretty well but her dear Father is evidently failing. All the household sends love to you as does yours most affectionately.
