DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY

Miss [Jeannette] Stetson,
Hull House,
Chicago.

My dear Miss Stetson: --

Miss Marian Swigart of Clinton, Illinois, a former student of mine in Rockford College, writes me that she is now a student in Rush Medical College and desires to live in Hull House the coming year, having become interested in the work there. She asks me to write to you in her behalf, since Miss Jane Addams may be especially interested in letters from members of this faculty.

We remember Miss Swigart as a good student and very earnest. She then had the desire to study medicine and in this she has, it seems, been successful so far. I believe that speaks well for her character. As far as I know, and I have consulted our Registrar, Miss Church, she got along very well here during her freshman year. I believe that she would profit by the associations of Hull House and I hope that a place may be found for [her] there.

Very truly yours,

Ruth Marshall [signed]
Professor of Zoology
