Jane Addams to Lillian D. Wald, April 8, 1928

HULL-HOUSE
800 SOUTH HALSTED STREET
CHICAGO

Dearest Lady

I hated to send that telegram today but an [ear bashing?] last Thursday by my doctor added to a strange healthlessness, brought about the final decision. In fact there seemed no help for it!

I hope you will find a good room mate and that a fine conference will [ensue]. I was going on with Harriet Vittum and back with Lea Taylor. Mary is having a visit just now from her nephew Lyman.

I have an appointment in N.Y. May 1st which I may also have to give up but I hope not.

We sail for Honolulu probably July [4th?] the meeting is from Aug 9-19th but we may [page 2] spend all of July in California if we can find a cool place by the sea.

We must [sure?] see you before then if not then which would be fine!

With many apologies & regrets,

I am always devotedly yours

Jane Addams
