5. April 1928.
My dear Miss Addams!
In my last letter I said that I should not get any opportunity to speak in this City -- I was [certainly] mistaken. I have been speaking [a lot]-- the League at -- at least -- 10 different places, since I last wrote you.
There was a dinner party last Monday celebrating the first birthday of the L. A. Branch. It was quite an international affair with music and speaking very interesting.
In San Diego they are very good indeed. I promised to come back and talk at the University [page 2] class of Mr. [Lesley]. He is doing some fine work.
Then I am going to speak at a meeting of [colored] people next Sunday and after that I must say stop. I must try to do a little paid work in between otherwise I shall starve before I get across again.
I have tried (or friend of the League) to get inside the Friday morning club but I was considered "too radical!!"
It is a fine list of lectures L. A. has had -- and 300 members in one year -- in a country where they have such a spirit to work against!
Sometimes I do long to go [East] -- but then again the weather is so lovely here -- and they do not [dynamite] you here and the people I meet are sweet and want me -- and so I stay. But I do not want to miss you again. Have you any plans of leaving H. H. this spring or early summer. The immigration office has given me permission for another 6 months!
Yours very sincerely Th. Daugaard
