NEW YORK.

August third 1911.

Dear Miss Addams:

I am looking forward with the keenest interest to your manuscript. Does it not seem to you that this material published in the magazine, reaching upwards of five hundred thousand families, presumably among the most thoughtful and [high minded] of the country ought to have a certain value that it cannot possibly have in a book, and further it would make the book itself more valuable as it would bring about more readers to the book on account of its wide publication.

Faithfully,
S. S. McClure [signed]
