Jane Addams to Florence Kelley, January 22, 1928

WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM

Jan'y 22d 1928

My dear Florence Kelley --

Feby 11th would be fine for us and we want nothing so much as to see you, but we will be here in May for the Honolulu Conference has just been postponed until August 9th to 19th, and ↑we↓ will not need to start until the end of June or even July.

I am not going to [Memphis] because I honestly declined invitations thinking we wouldn't be here and I am very glad of our excuse not to go. The Nat. Federation of Settlements meets in Boston in April & I may go to that -- one is enough! [page 2]

Now, dear friend, we should be glad to have you come in May instead of Feb'y, if it is better to save the long journey -- Feb'y or May suits us or better still both of them.

I am just about all right again and my intestinal "flu" was a shorter affair that my doctor predicted. It was quite bad the first three days & then apparently "yielded to treatment."

Ellen Starr is in Santa Fe recovering fast, so it seems all is going well with us.

Always devotedly yours Jane Addams

[written at the top of page 1] P.S. I am sending a wedding card for an announcement!
