My dear Mde Schwimmer

I was so shocked and unhappy to hear of Vilma Glücklich's death.

Emily Balch had had a cable and we together had cabled the Hungarian Section and the American Section has also cabled I believe. It is very little to do and one feels baffled as well as distressed by the very sadness of it. [page 2]

I know how dear she was to you and what a personal sorrow it must mean to you. She had many friends in Geneva and throughout all of the branches and we will ever be grateful for the fine work she did at headquarters, but the personal pang is hardest of all to bear. I recall her first at the Suffrage Congress with you in 1913. Will you let me know if there is anything I can do for you. With cordial greetings to your mother and sister, I am faithfully yours Jane Addams
