Dear Miss Addams:

My best piece of news in a dog's age.

John P. Gavit has accepted the Secretaryship of Survey Associates and will serve also as Associate Editor in the field of international relations and race relations.

In his settlement [days] in Chicago, Mr. Gavit launched the Commons which was merged with Charities and became the Survey. His work as a journalist on the New York Evening Post and the Associated Press is known to you. We feel he will reinforce Survey Associates at every point.

Mr. Gavit has spent the greater part of the last four years abroad. He will begin work in the fall.

Sincerely,

Editor

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
800 S. Halted St.,
Chicago, Ill.
