Dear Miss Addams:
I sent your letter to a Chicago friend now living in Los Angeles hoping that she may be interested enough to become a member of the League.
Also, I will send my dues to the secretary with the name and dues of a young friend who enters Leland Stanford as a junior this fall.
I am much interested in the aims and methods of the [page 2] League, especially the summer school. Do you think a scholarship given to a graduate student by the University of Chicago or by the Association of University Women would be practical and worth while and could be arranged? If so, how much money do you think would be necessary for much a scholarship?
Do you know that I am losing my right? -- cataracts. I am hoping I may be able to be in Chicago this summer and then would like to talk [page 3] with you in person about the scholarship. As it is rather difficult for me to get about, do you think I could have a room in Hull House for a few days in August and September, if you are to be at home?
Hoping this finds you very well,
Sincerely your friend,
Mary Campbell.
