My dear Miss Addams:

I understand you are coming to New York next week, and I want to ask you a favor. I know you will be very very busy and all your friends will be wanting to see you but I have been wondering whether you could spare the time to come and have dinner with us at the Training School here. We have it quite early -- 6:30 -- so that you could leave directly afterwards if necessary. We have quite a number of people on furlough from China and Japan -- also, we have someone from Korea, the Philippines, and Mexico, and it would give us all the very greatest pleasure if you could come. We do not wish to press our claims in the face of all the others you must have, but knowing the help that you gave us when you visited the Orient, it is natural that we should like to have the chance of seeing you again.

Miss [Addams], the Dean of the Training School, has asked me to write to you, and she joins with me in hoping you may find it possible to come.

Yours sincerely,
Agatha Harrison [signed]
