Dear Miss Addams --

Miss [Dorothy] Detzer will have written from Washington that I should be in Chicago the 18th and that I should be happy not only to meet you but also to speak in some [new way] of your League.

This program could not be maintained. The circumstances which led to this result are too complicated to be explained here. Financial reasons were decisive.

I will go now from Quebec & more or less indirectly to Boston and to [New York] and to Philadelphia. I hope to find precise information [tomorrow] in Quebec. If the news I expect change still the program I will inform you. Otherwise I will be in [New York] from the 24th to the 27th of October. Perhaps I will find there still a chance to go to Chicago. I should be very glad. [page 2]

As I don't yet know in which home I will stay in [New York], please, write me c/o Miss Cornelia J. Browne 31 Prospect Street East Orange N.J.

In Boston I will be from the 18th to the 20th. Letters would reach me c/o Mrs. Lucia Ames Mead, 19 Euston Street Brookline Mass.

Sincerely yours

L. Quidde
