I am very much pleased at your consent to write the article on DEMOCRACY AND SOCIAL ETHICS. We shall not need the article before the end of the summer.

I take advantage of this opportunity to tell you how much interested I have been in your "Twenty Years at Hull House" and how glad I am that we have this work from your hands. I really shrink from saying all that I should like to say about this book and the one on "The City Streets" for fear that it might appear to you as flattery, but I can't help telling you what a source of pleasure and inspiration they have been to me.
