Miss Sears: 1-18-27

Mr. Lavery (Ran. 5149) telephoned last night re: reservations for the Addams dinner. He said Mr. Schwartz told him that the committee is not taking any further reservations. He [illegible] [thought] that the fact that he had accepted appointment on the Citizen's Committee would mean that he (together with the other members of the committee) would have a place at the dinner even though he was a little slow about making reservation, etc. etc., Mon. being time enough to make reservations for Thurs.

Tried to explain to him that nothing could be done about it, many others are disappointed, it was due to limited space, etc., but he insists that he must have a place for himself and Mrs. L. As he was a resident for [some time] at Hull House and an admirer of Miss Addams, and it would be very disappointing, indeed, not [to] be able to attend. Finally he decided he would call you again this morning and see what you can do for him.
