My dear Miss Addams:
Miss Erma Smith, professor of Physiology at Ames College, Iowa, writes me that she hopes to live at Hull House next summer and wishes me to write you something about her. Miss Smith lived in Kelly Hall, of which I am head, for about three years, so that I know her very well. In fact she is now a good personal friend of mine. She is in every way a satisfactory person to have live in a group. She is very sensible, is companionable and considerate of others. She is [page 2] interested in all manners of things and people. She is very able and very genuine. While she was working for her doctor's degree here she taught physiology to the pre-medical students. I think you would find her interesting and valuable to have with you.
Sincerely yours,
