Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
800 South Halsted Street,
Chicago.

Dear Miss Addams:

I have an invitation to attend a dinner in your honor on the evening of January 20. I am very sorry that the condition of my health is such that I do not go out to evening dinners. I expect Mrs. Sikes will attend.

There is no citizen of Chicago who is more deserving of honor nor whom I would more like to honor than yourself. This selfish and war-torn world needs more of the spirit which your life typifies. I sincerely hope that you may be spared for many more years of useful service such as you have rendered to the world, the nation, the state of Illinois and to your own local community.

With sincere regards,

George C. Sikes [signed]
