LESSING ROSENTHAL
CHICAGO
January 20, 1927.
Dear Mr. Schwartz:
It is a matter of the most sincere regret to me that I shall be unable to attend the [dinner] tonight to Miss Jane Addams.
I know of no one who deserves more to be honored and I should like to join the many who realize her worth in paying tribute to her. Miss Addams' position in this community has been unique and she has shown us what a life of high ideals, carried into actual practice means.
May I ask you to extend to Miss Addams my good wishes and to express the hope that for many, many years to come she will continue to be our honored guest.
Sincerely yours,
Lessing Rosenthal [signed]
