Biographical Text

Mabel Taliaferro was an actress of the silent screen who featured in more than a hundred plays. Taliaferro featured as a tot in Zangwill's "The Children of the Ghetto", and Yeats's "The Land of Hearts Desire" when she was 2 years old. She was one of the first theater stars to enter silent films when she appeared in "Cinderella" and "The Three Of Us." Known as "The Sweetheart of American Movies", Taliaferro is famous for her role as Lovely Mary in "Mr. Wiggs in the Cabbage Patch", and as Polly in "Polly of the Circus."

Taliaferro was married to Frederick W. Thompson from 1906 to 1911. She later married Thomas Carrigan from 1913 to 1919. Taliaferro then was married to Joseph O'Brien from 1920 to 1929, and finally Robert Ober. She had a child with Thomas Carrigan. Taliaferro died in 1979.
