My dear Miss Addams: This is called a model letter by some kind friends who are sending in checks. These [letters] mailed last Friday were received Saturday and later. In the five days since we have received 27 checks amounting to $641.00 and I am sure that more are to come. Each day I send the cks to Mrs. Burpee the treasurer and send copy of that letter with names and addresses to Miss Lathrop. I send personal notes of thanks to each donor & Mrs. Burpee sends [receipt]. This letter came back with $2.00. Some write kind letters ↑some↓ expressing sorrow that gifts must be small & saying good true things about you. When we are through I can show them to you. C. W McCulloch
