Dear Miss Addams --

I am sorry that I was away when your friends Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Todd were in China. My husband was here and tried to get in touch with them, but failed to see them. I hope you will give us another opportunity to do something for you and your friends.

I was so disappointed that our furlough did not [give] us a chance to see you and Hull House. I shall hope for other things next time.
