Dear Miss Addams,
I acknowledge with many thanks the receipt of
Swiss Francs 2,1012. -- ([Two thousand and twelve])
from the Chicago Bank. At the same time, I am sending to the Washington office a [check] of $21.72 ([Twenty one] 72/100 dollars) for Mrs. Taussig, to cover the expenses of sending out our last News Letter. Miss Surles had suggested to reduce her deposits to the Chicago Bank by it, but it seems not fair to me, unless the remittance to us is reduced accordingly. I was afraid this would mean more disturbance to you; but of course if you prefer this way of settling our accounts, it would be quicker and simpler.
Geneva is now full of interesting guests; unfortunately they are too busy to come to see us. Still, we had Miss Abbott at our reception on Saturday, as well as Miss Rathbone and other delegates to the meeting of the Advisory Committee and of the International Labour Conference. As to the Conference on the Control of Traffic in Arms, we have sent them the enclosed Memorandum and had interviews with several of them. We could not yet get into touch with the American delegation.
Thank you so much for the Cuban address you kindly sent us; I shall attend to it presently.
Alice Paul is here too, planning to pass the winter at the Geneva University. The Boyntons are still in Italy.
