WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM
To Presidents and Secretaries of International Peace [Organizations].
11th December 1924.
Dear friends,
Our Central Office has received the following telegram:
"Egyptian women appeal to Peace societies world over rescue humanity from imperialistic oppression, great obstacles for World Peace. Egypt's liberty, peace dangerously threatened through present British policy actuated by barbaric brutal force."
We sent immediately a wire to Mr. Austen Chamberlain, calling his attention to the appeal from Egyptian women. At the same time we feel it our duty to forward it to you, as the first sentence of the telegram is addressed to all the Peace [Organizations].
This is not a question of [judgment] on the whole matter; in regard to that your British branch will probably have expressed its opinion, -- just as our British Section did. The appeal refers to the enforcement of the reprisals which -- as so many cases have shown in the past -- almost always goes further than was intended even by the power which imposes the punishment.
We earnestly hope that you will find the way to respond to this cry of anguish which the women of Egypt are sending us.
In faithful comradeship
yours sincerely
General Secretary.
