Dear Miss Addams

I was delighted to receive your book "Twenty Years at the Hull House". You were very kind to think of me and this makes the gift so much more precious. At first I intended to acknowledge its receipt after I read all of it (I read it seriatim in the American Magazine) but I can read only so much between times.

It is a good tonic to me; a good differential diagnosis between the essential and unessential in life.

It will quicken the sense of Justice and put courage and determination in many a wavering soul. All those with or without symptoms of weltschmerz will study it thoroughly, feel better and try to make others feel better!

Please do not think I am pretending to review the book; it is simply an expression of feeling.

Believe me I greatly appreciate your kindness,

Sincerely yours

Theodore Sachs
