Dear Miss Addams

I feel as if I had no idea whether this will reach you, as I have no address & do not know when you are likely to leave but I am just risking a note to send you my own love & that of W.I.L. and hosts of inquiring friends. We were shocked at first report of your illness, but hope the latest one is correct and you are even now well on the way to recovery. We were much pleased at the sympathy & appreciation of you that came out in the papers generally [page 2] in connection with your illness. The world does love you! We discussed sending you a telegram but were not sure where or how to send, so I am just writing this full of love & rejoicing it is [too]. We will be happy to know you are safely on U.S.A. soil ere long.

Please remember me most warmly to Miss Smith -- & know I am always yours most affectionately

Lucy Biddle Lewis
