My dear Miss Addams:
I have bothered you so often about Association business that I hesitate to appeal to you again, particularly since this is a personal matter.
I am contemplating relieving somewhat the budget of the Foreign Policy Association next year by giving a number of public lectures on various phases of international relations. I am told by those expert in securing engagements of this sort that a comment from you on my capacity as a speaker and my knowledge of international relations would be very helpful.
If, without too greatly straining your sense of truth, you can let me have such a statement, I would deeply appreciate it.
Very sincerely yours,
James G. McDonald [signed]
