My dear Miss Addams:

My daughter and I have just come from the charming old house where your League for Peace and Freedom has its headquarters. Miss Balch had just gone away to have a much needed vacation before the summer school. The Director of the House -- Mrs [Ruehl?] showed us all over the building -- which we so much enjoyed seeing. The roses were in full flower, the [grapes] climbing over all the balconies, and it was one of quaintest ↑most↓ delightful [spots] I have ever seen.

We are having a most wonderful trip. My sister, my two daughters and a friend, and we are a jolly five: all well, and ready for anything that offers [of] interest or amusement. We have found Switzerland even more beautiful than we had remembered it, after almost 30 years, & the [hotels] the perfection of service abroad & not [exorbitant] -- but it is still a little [illegible words]!

with cordial regards -- [from all?] of us --

Alice H. Wood. [page 2]
