Jane Addams to Lucia Ames Mead, August 18, 1922

HULL'S COVE
MAINE

My dear Mrs Mead

How wonderful you are to speak in the South in the midst of the summer. Your energy & devotion to Peace fill me with self reproach. I have ↑done↓ a little speaking this summer but on the whole have been very lazy.

I very much admired the article you sent me, it was not only clear and [convincing] but very forceful. I am so glad that Mr Mead is able to write even a little. [page 2] Miss Sheepshanks is still here, Miss Dudley hopes that the Union of Democratic Control can unite with the W.I.L. for one lecture in October.

I leave here Sept 7" and go almost directly to Hull-House.

With affectionate greetings to Mr Mead, I am always devotedly yours Jane Addams.
