Dear Miss Addams: --

Sorry we were unable to make the much desired motor trip to Bar Harbor, and incidentally enjoy your hospitality. I trust you had as wonderful a summer as we did. Mine lasted almost three solid months.

I hope to see you soon.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed your “Peace and Bread” book. It is really a permanent contribution to the inside history of the War, and particularly of the peace movement and cross currents. The manner and matter of it appealed to me very strongly. You also gave an illuminating view of President Wilson that is startling in its effectiveness.

Sincerely yours,

S. O. Levinson [signed]

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
