Dear Miss Addams:
At the 11th hour we were faced with a most perplexing space situation and I took you at your word and omitted all those paragraphs -- indeed added one for full measure. None the less, the [installment] will, I think, give our readers generally as it has given me a better view of the activities of the women in Europe than I have ever had before.
I won't attempt this time to send you a check. But I should like you to feel our very genuine appreciation not only for this [installment] and for the series as a whole, but for the great ruck of trouble and [bother] which our attempt to make magazine use of these chapters has cost you. From our point of view they have been tremendously worth the pains.
Sincerely,
P.S. A bundle of copies will go off to you in a day or so.
