My dear Miss Addams,

I thank you for the second check for $50 and expect to go to Washington the last of the month. I have not heard from Mrs. Odell who probably does not know my address, as I do not know hers.

I am speaking every day on the Washington Conference. The Transcript says the delegate from Mass. appointed on the Advisory Council was chosen because she had done more than any other woman to keep us out of the League of Nations [page 2] and that the woman from the Pacific had worked with Sen. Johnson for the same end.

Manley Hudson is giving admirable talks on the Conference and ↑claims↓ that our chief hope is in association with the League, the one agency that is ready (and able) to deal with the world problems.

Yours affectionately,

Lucia Ames Mead
