Dearest Lady,

You are always so "Heavenly good" to me in New York, that I come away with a sense of fresh ingratitude that I hadn't told you of my affection and appreciation -- I seem to have made an extraordinary amount of trouble this time and I want to send my thanks both to you and to the other residents who had to participate. [page 2]

I know how hard this peace work has made everything for you and I much admire the way you stand up to it, with that also I haven't clearly said.

Affairs are very tense here today but I hope after the registration tomorrow that the atmosphere will be clearer.

Mary sends her dearest love to you, and I am always devotedly yours

Jane Addams
