Chicago, Feb. 21, 1917.

Miss E. B. Vermilye,
W. 92nd St.,
New York City.

My Dear Miss Vermilye:

Miss [Addams] has just left for New York to attend an executive board meeting of The Woman's Peace Party, acting with the State Chairmen and Chairmen of Branches and Affiliated Organizations, at which the policy of The Woman's Peace Party at this time will be determined, and I am therefore writing to acknowledge your letter of February 19th, and to express my regret that the communication recently sent did not meet with your approval.

Whether the Referendum Vote will be endorsed by The Woman's Peace Party or not will be determined at this meeting. Some of our members feel as you do about it, [that?] it is not practicable, and perhaps the Board will not wish to endorse this measure.

If you are interested I will be glad to send you the result of the meeting in New York. In the meantime I am withdrawing your name from our files.

Yours sincerely,

Office Secretary
