My dear Miss Carroll:
Your letter address to Miss Addams has been referred to this office and I quite realize how loathe you must be to enroll yourself in an organization which does not seem to be on a good business basis. I think it very probable that the mistake has occurred in the New York office, due to the fact that their goods were stored during the summer and their headquarters temporarily given up, and the whole office, I believe, somewhat disorganized for that period of time. The New York Branch of the Woman's Peace Party is, however, now definitely located for the year at 70 Fifth Avenue and there should certainly be no further mistakes.
Should you wish to join the Woman's Peace Party as a National Member, we should be very glad to have you send your contribution directly to this office and you would receive a receipt within a very short time, but I am not urging you to do this because it seems wise for you to be connected with the New York Branch since you are located in New York and can take part in its local activities. However, I wish you to feel that the National Office is on a strictly business basis and that record is carefully kept of every contribution and subscription which is entered at this office.
I am enclosing a copy of a preliminary announcement of our Annual Meeting in Washington which has just been sent out. I hope you may join the Woman's Peace Party and be able to attend this meeting.
