My dear Mrs. McCormick: --
Last year in May you very kindly sent to Hull-House through Mrs. Bowen a subscription of $500 for the relief of the unemployed; in July of that year you again sent us a like amount.
While the unemployed question has taken care of itself this year, the finances of Hull-House are still suffering from the unusual efforts of last year. If you feel that you could send us a [check] for $500 it would be of the greatest possible help in replacing the funds which we diverted from other needs to help in a crisis which we felt we could not ignore.
With the hope that I am not presuming upon your generosity, I am
Faithfully yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
Mrs. Cyrus H. McCormick
Chicago, Illinois.
