CHICAGO

April 1st, 1929.

Mr. Kirby Page,
Chairman, Provisional Executive Committee,
347 Madison Avenue,
New York.

My dear Mr. Page:

I am sorry to decline my election as a member of the National Committee of the League for Independent Political Action, but I have of late, been obliged to decline ↑all↓ such memberships. I find belonging to Committees with headquarters in New York particularly difficult.

I voted for Mr. Hoover, although I had never before voted the Republican ticket. I do not know just how I feel about my contrariness ↑political history! With good wishes for the new undertaking,↓

I am Cordially yours,

Jane Addams [signed]
