Miss Jane Addams,
335 South Halsted Street,
Chicago, Illinois.

Dear Miss Addams:-

I am told that Miss Irene Osgood has applied for the position as Factory Inspector in Illinois, and that you have a great deal of influence with respect to the appointment. I want to say that I consider her an admirable woman for the place. She seems to me to have in rare degree a combination of all the qualities needed. She has the social qualities, an excellent mind, and excellent training, together with full sympathy with the work. Professor Adams has especially spoken of the excellence of her work in Statistics, which I think is a very good test. It seems to me that she combines in such an unusual degree the qualities needed that I hope, if possible, she may be seen before a selection is made.

Sincerely yours,

Item Relations
