Dear Miss Addams,

The Junior Class in our Normal here at Fresno is preparing for a debate with the Seniors and later with other schools. Our topic is, "Resolved, that military training for boys in the High schools is desirable". Inferring from your splendid work in the promotion of peace that you are opposed to such a course, we of the negative venture to beg of you a summary of your arguments [page 2] against the proposition.

Thanking you very much for [your] trouble and kindness, I remain,

yours very respectfully,

Mattie Michelle Webb.
