Biographical Text

Robert Dell was a British journalist and editor. He was best known for his work on art, political, and international affairs. Dell was a member of the Fabian Society and worked on the organization's art magazine. He became the foreign correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in 1907 and later the Nation, serving until 1938, spending his time in Paris, Berlin, and Geneva. He was expelled from France between 1918-1924 due to his criticism of the government. Dell was the author of three books: My Second Country, France (1920), Germany unmasked (1934), and The Geneva Racket, 1920-1939 (1940).

Dell married Florence Annie Johnson in 1892 and had two daughters, Sylvia and Mary Veronica. Dell died in 1940.
