Biographical Text

Josephine Large was an American musician and active member of Hull-House. For several decades, she played the piano in Chicago's Amateur Musical Club, regularly performing in concerts organized by the program. Additionally, she was a pianist for the Listemann Quartet. Large was also, for a time, a resident of Hull-House and was a member of the Hull-House Music School, for which she played recitals on the grounds. In 1906, Large began teaching for Hull-House's College Extension program, leading a secondary English class.

She died in 1940.
