Biographical Text

George Lloyd Magruder was a member of the Committee of One Hundred on the American Association for the Advancement of Science on National Health. He was a tuberculosis specialist. Magruder was one of the founders of the Georgetown University Hospital, as well as the Dean of the Georgetown University Medical School. He was one of the founders of the Central Dispensary and Emergency Hospital, one of the consulting staff members of Providence Hospital, and on the board of visitors of the Government Hospital for the Insane. He was a member of the Washington Academy of Science. Magruder was also a member of the committee that wrote a report on the condition and purity of Washington D. C.'s milk supply.

Magruder married Belle B Magruder in 1883. They had one daughter, Pauline. Magruder died in 1914.
