Everett W. Lord to Jane Addams, April 14, 1911

April 14, 1911

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House, Chicago,

My dear Miss Addams:--

Mr. Clopper asks me to send you material to substantiate claims made in my pamphlet "Children of the Stage".  I hardly know what he can expect me to send you, as almost every claim made in that pamphlet is accompanied by references as to my source of information, so that it is possible for anyone to satisfy himself regarding them.

I am writing to the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., asking them to send you a copy of the "Specialized Mortality Report" to which I refer for data regarding the longevity of actors; that report should be sufficient evidence to convince even a legislator.  I think, however, that latest editions of the report, as published by the Metropolitan Co., do not contain the explanatory notes, one of which I quoted, but the notes are hardly necessary.

I am personally prepared to take oath to the accuracy of any statements of my own in my pamphlet, or to give the source of information wherever it is in doubt.
Yours sincerely,
Everett W Lord [signed]
