WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM AND WORLD UNION OF WOMEN FOR INTERNATIONAL CONCORD
Dear Miss Satterthwaite,
Your name has been to me as that of the Secretary to the forthcoming Women's Pan-Pacific Conference. Our League is naturally much interested, and as we have been unable to obtain particulars concerning it locally, we should be glad if you would kindly send full information, as soon as convenient.
If we could meet the expense, this Section of the Women's International League would very much like to send a delegate. Both as Australians and as workers for international peace we feel that such a Conference is peculiarly our concern; hence we are anxious to know what the plan and scope of the Conference is to be.
This League has itself held four large and successful International Congresses of Women since the war; three of them in Europe, the fourth at Washington, U.S.A. I was personally present at the first of these, held at Zurich in 1919, but have always felt that our attention was [centered] rather too much on European affairs, and too little on the problems nearer home, which are of equal importance in the conservation of world peace, and where our influence as Australians must necessarily count for more than it can do in the complex and highly organized policies of the Old World.
An early reply, giving fullest possible particulars, will therefore be esteemed a [favor].
Hoping that the Conference may be a signal success,
Yours sincerely,
