Biographical Text

Loretta C. Turner Van Hook was a missionary who worked in Persia (modern day Iran). She taught a girl's school modeled on the Rockford Female Seminary. Turner Van Hook was part of a group of Chicago missionaries and had been working in Persia since 1876. Turner Van Hook was married to James Perry Van Hook but was later widowed. They had one son, Arthur Perry Van Hook. Turner Van Hook died in 1935.
