A new attitude toward the delinquent girl was heralded Saturday by Miss Jane Addams of Hull House, author and social worker, in an address before the Chicago League of Women Voters Saturday.

"She is no longer condemned, but an effort is made to understand her," said Miss Addams. "This is the attitude of social workers who deal directly with the problem, and I hope in time it will be the attitude of everyone."

It is unfair to condemn the girl who goes astray in a large city, because of the temptations that beset her, Miss Addams said. Nor is the immigrant girl as much of a moral problem as is often thought, the speaker added:

"The immigrant girl is comparatively well chaperoned, and does not give the amount of trouble, in proportion to the number of such girls here, as the native born small town or country girl."
