Dear Miss Addams,

I know that it is the desire of almost all international [organizations] in general and of women's international [organizations] in particular, to establish a Peace Day throughout the entire world. As we all know, there are many good plans as to what should be done on such a day: suggestions of pageants, processions and public demonstrations, music and theatrical, etc. have been made. There is one suggestion that has been made with which I think everybody would agree and that is to obtain an expression of public opinion in [favor] of arbitration, -- law to replace war.

There has been made a very good plan for this particular form of action on such a day and I am sending to you herewith enclosed a copy of the plan in its present form. This plan has been approved by a great many serious and eminent men and women and I have been asked to find out, from the International Women leaders, in case it could be carried out and with the proviso that the auspices are of a high dignified and worthy [character], whether they personally and in principle would agree to [cooperate] in bringing to a common and [coordinate] action and [realization] these many different plans that have all been made to the same end.

In answering in the affirmative, please understand that you are in no way binding yourself to any engagement, I am merely asked to get an expression of opinion.

With kind fraternal regards,

Clara Guthrie d'Arcis [signed]
